Via Cheap Bastard: Rather than raise fees at Atlantic County's John J. Gaffney Green Tree Golf Course to help end its four-year money-losing streak, officials have reduced course fees in hopes of attracting more customers. A good portion of the savings are aimed at non-county residents, particularly those in the northern end of Cape May County who indicated they would play at the course if fees were reduced, Atlantic County Freeholder James Curcio said. The cost of a weekday round of golf for a noncounty resident is now $12 between Nov. 1 and March 15, and $21 between March 16 and Oct. 31, according to an ordinance adopted recently by the Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The old fees were $28 between April 1 and Sept. 30, and $24 between Oct. 1 and March 31, according to the county Web site.
