Asbury Park Press writes in Deal ready to play host to another big moment:
Since it was founded in 1895, there have been some significant moments in the history of Deal Golf and Country Club. But you could argue that few have been more important than the club's hosting of the 105th New Jersey State Golf Association Amateur Championship, which begins its 72-hole run today.
For much of the past year, speculation had swirled concerning the potential sale of the club to developers and an impending move to Colts Neck for the membership. But now they're looking to put the whole incident behind them and showcase a classic golf course that will receive its first major test since renovations were completed about four years ago.
