Newsday writes that Companies pay a lot of green for tents on fairways at the upcoming PGA Championship at Baltusrol:

The air-conditioned, carpeted structures -which the PGA calls “chalets”- can fit 120 people and cost the companies from $105,000 to $190,000, with priciest locations along the 17th and 18th fairways.

But that's just what they pay the PGA. In addition, the companies must provide food, beverages and amenities, which often include large-screen televisions.

Also of note: The surge in corporate money has boosted player earnings, with 2005 purses of $252.4 million, compared to $61.7 million in 1995. The tour's charitable contributions have also risen, to more than $95 million this year, up from $35.3 million in 1995, the PGA Tour said.

An interesting article, check it out.
