The first annual “Swing Fore A Cure” golf outing to benefit research for a cure of Cystic Fibrosis is proud to be a part of the weeklong A Night To Remember event commemorating the voyage of the RMS Titanic. The golf outing is being held on Friday, April 13th at the spectacular Trump National Golf Course in Colts Neck (http://www.trumpcoltsneck.com/) with check-in starting at 10:30am. Golfers will have plenty of time to warm up on the range, practice their putting, and to enjoy a relaxed B-B-Q lunch in the Trump National clubhouse prior to the 1pm Shotgun start. Named New Jersey’s best new private course in 2004, the Tom Fazio II redesigned course provides each scramble team with 19, yes nineteen, challenging holes and breathtaking beauty. Each team will have their own fore-caddie assigned to chase down errant shots and to provide local knowledge of all the greens. At least two par three’s will feature luxury cars as Hole-in-One prizes and everyone will participate in the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin contests too. Team prizes will be awarded.

An open bar and hot hors d’oeuvres await the teams after a long day on the links followed with a gourmet buffet dinner with a varied selection of entrees. Dinner-only tickets are available for $150. Door prizes for the golfers, gift baskets, a fifty-fifty, and even a live auction will be available throughout the evening as the post-golf dinner morphs into a weekend kickoff Titanic Boarding Party, open to the public, scheduled from 8pm until 10pm.

The American Diabetes Association’s Annual Driving Fore the Cure Golf Tournament gives each participant the opportunity to interact with fellow ADA partners and businesses and there are many options for support through foursomes and sponsorships. Revenue from the day goes to benefit the mission of the ADA, which is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

This year, the outing takes place Monday, June 25th at the exclusive Cherry Valley Country Club in Skillman, NJ. To accommodate all of our golfers, an early morning shotgun has been added. After a riveting game of golf and a scrumptious lunch provided by the club, the cocktail reception begins at 5:30PM available for both groups of golfers. Berkeley Heights, NJ, May 24, 2011 – Summit Animal Rescue Association today announced the organization’s third annual SARA Golf Tournament, Dinner and Silent Auction. The purpose of this event is to generate awareness about Summit Animal Rescue Association and to raise funds to help continue their mission.

The tournament format will be a Four-Man Scramble, scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm with a “Shotgun Start”. It will be held at Beaver Brook Country Club in picturesque Annandale, NJ. The event is open to the general public. The fee is $145 per player. A portion of registration fees is tax deductible. Players will receive 18-holes of golf with cart, and an Italian Buffet Dinner served in Beaver Brook’s beautiful banquet hall, complete with beer, wine, soda, desert and appetizers. Non-golfers can attend the event for $45.

All attendees will receive a bag filled with free gifts, valuable coupons and sponsor information. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams, with $500 for first place, $250 for second place and $100 for third place. There will also be contests for long-drive, nearest–to-pin, putting, and “surprise contests”. Prizes awarded for these include leading-brand golf clubs and other valuable items. There will be a 50-50 raffle drawing, with a cash prize of over $1,000. There will also be hole-in-one contests on all four par-3 holes, with a $10,000 prize and 3 other valuable prizes.

All golfers and dinner attendees will be eligible to participate in a silent auction with attractive items going to the highest bidders. Only paid attendees at the event may bid in the auction, even if the items go for less than face value. Ocean City, NJ – The 23nd Annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Invitational Golf Tournament will be held at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point, NJ on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. The tournament features a double shot gun start at 7:30am and 1:00pm, modified scramble format and cost $150.00 per golfer and Sponsorships are available.

Cystic Fibrosis is a life threatening genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Approximately 10 million Americans are symptom-less carriers of the defective gene. CF substantially impairs respiratory and digestive functions, making simple acts of eating and breathing a challenge. The average life expectancy is 37 years of age – there is no cure.

The CF Foundation leverages its dollars with biotech and pharmaceutical companies to ensure that the discovery phase of identifying new drugs to treat CF is ongoing. There are currently more than 30 drugs and therapies in various stages of clinical trials – any one of these could have a dramatic effect on the life of a CF patient. On June 9, 2011, the CF Foundation and Vertex Pharmaceuticals announced positive results from the Phase 2 study of a combination of two potential new drugs, VX-770 and VX-809, in patients with the Delta F508 mutation (the most common genetic mutation in CF patients). This is an important milestone in our efforts to expand the use of small molecules to attack the root cause of the disease in those with the most common mutation.

Our challenge is to raise the dollars through special events, like our golf outing, to fund this landmark research, and to give the children and young adults with CF the quality of life and the future they deserve.
