Organizers expect changes in LPGA’s handling of ShopRite Classic to help local economy – pressofAtlanticCity.com: Business: Ladies Professional Golf Association organizers estimate the tournament will pump $15 million to $20 million into the region. That estimate, however, is based on studies of similarly sized tournaments. The LPGA has never done a study of the Galloway tournament that would provide a more precise analysis.
Still, they say they are striving to improve the tournament and ensure it has a more profound effect on the area’s economy this year.
The tournament will take place about two weeks earlier than last year. The three rounds of play start June 3 after four days of preliminary events that begin Memorial Day. The days following the holiday are traditionally a lull for many business owners.
