NJ.com: When the group of fifth-graders didn’t immediately moan and stare off into the sky as the topic of fertigation came up — Frank Tichenor knew he might have something. Fertigation is the process when fertilizer is injected into the irrigation water to help grass grow faster and more efficiently, in case you were wondering. Tichenor is the head superintendent at Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield and he figured when he started talking about the process, his young audience would lose interest.
