CALLING ALL GOLFERS — “All Fore ALS” Charity Golf Outing to benefit The ALS Association Greater NY Chapter. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), commonly known as “Lou Gehrig’s disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Despite the severity of ALS, there are many people who live with ALS for many years, even decades with a high quality of life. As one man put it, “I’ve made ALS part of my life, not my whole life.”

The outing will take place on Monday, September 19, 2011 at the exclusive Ramsey Golf and Country Club located in Ramsey, NJ. It will begin at 7:30am with Registration and hot breakfast buffet followed by a 9:30am Shotgun (best ball scramble format) concluding with lunch, open bar and awards/prizes. Individual golfers are $250/golfer and foursomes are $1,000. Sponsorships are still available.

Support for sponsors and donations have come in from MLB Network, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, PepsiCo, Power Balance, Golfsmith, Northern Eagle Beverages, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Smasburger and more. The Tampa Bay Rays have donated an autographed James Shields baseball; the New York Rangers donated an autographed Vinny Prospal hockey puck; and Trenton Thunder have donated four autographed baseballs including one by Derek Jeter (days before he hit 3000!!).

All golfers that sign up will receive a pair of baseline box tickets for Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Citi Field. The tickets have been donated by Matthew Gulotta, Account Executive of the New York Mets.
