The BL England plant owned and operated by RC Cape May will soon become one of the over 4,500 solar projects installed in the state. Statistics, provided by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, show a 74,900 percent increase in solar installations over the last eight years in New Jersey.
The proposed solar farm at the coal and oil power plant in Beesley’s Point will be located on the adjacent golf course, which is scheduled to close on Saturday due to a poor financial status. Joe Willshire, manager of the golf course, explained that the volunteer board that oversees the golf course decided to end more than 40 years of operation after bad weather and a bad economy plagued the course over the spring and summer.
